NORMAN ‘POSS’ DOWNS

Norman “Poss” Downs, 80, of Bardstown died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. He was born May 16, 1933, in Washington County. He was a retired mechanic for the Nelson County Road Department and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Saloma Downs; two daughters, Libby Hutchins and Joy Greenwell; two sisters, Dorothy Coulter and Monica Greenwell; four brothers, Keith Down, Donnie Down, Durlin Down and Herman Downs; and two grandsons, Jeremy McCubbins and Phillip Wayne Hutchins II;

He survived by his wife, Ada Beatrice Downs of Bardstown; three daughters, Mary Helen (Terry) Hodge and Lois (Joey) Price both of Bardstown, and Elaine (Mike) Byrd of Mount Washington; two sons, Danny (Suzie) Downs and Jerry (Gail) Downs, both of Bardstown; two sisters, Imelda Greenwell and Lola Hutchins both of Bardstown; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 12-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, and 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Masses.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
