Obituary: Scott Clifton Briggs, 57, Elizabethtown

SCOTT BRIGGS

Scott Clifton Briggs, 57, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Staff Sergeant. He was a civil service employee in HRC (Human Resources Command) at Fort Knox. He was a Baptist by faith. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Shirley Briggs; and one brother, Gene Briggs.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Sue “Patti” Taylor Briggs; one stepdaughter, Tami Boblitt (Jackie) of Bardstown; one stepson, Todd Smith (Nancy) of Culvertown; three sisters, Pam Parks (John) of Oregon, Eva Huddleston (Jim) of Arkansas, and Cattie Buchanan of Virginia; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, with full military honors at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of the arrangements.
