STAFF REPORT

Nov. 1, 2013, 11:45 a.m. — Six Nelson County residents have been arrested as black_friday_logopart of the Kentucky State Police’s Operation Black Friday, the agency’s largest one-day drug round-up in the agency’s history.

According to KSP, 479 people were arrested this morning resulting in 774 charges. Eleven were arrested in Marion County, nine in Hardin County and 19 in Taylor County. The counties with the highest number of arrests were Russell County (32), Pike County (23) and Jessamine County (22).

KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer credited the drug sweep’s success to public’s input via texts, phone calls, emails and anonymous tip lines. Most of the charges were drug related, Brewer said.

The KSP was assisted by local law enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, the ATF, DEA and U.S. Marshalls Service. Arrests began before daybreak Friday.
