Bardstown Warehousing announces 100,000-sq.ft. expansion project

Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, 11 p.m. — Bardstown Warehousing has announced they will construction31build their second 100,000 square-foot facility in less than two years in Bardstown. The new warehouse will be located on a tract of land they own on Withrow Court in the Bardstown Industrial Park in close proximity to their first facility.

Bardstown Warehousing owners Chris Monin, David Monin and Dean Monin announced the new building is necessary due to the increased demand for warehousing space continues in Nelson County and in the region. The new facility will be used as a distribution, warehouse and logistics center with possible manufacturing or assembly capabilities and will employ five to ten new permanent jobs.

The $2 million project includes designs by Studio Kramer Architects as well as Horizon Engineering of Bardstown.

“The project will take approximately seven months to complete and will have a significant economic impact on the community including providing construction jobs for equipment operators, carpenters, steel erectors, electricians and pipe fitters from the region as well as requiring significant purchases of concrete, stone and other products from local vendors,” according to Michael Salsman, president of BCD.

Kim Huston, president of the Nelson County Economic Development Agency said the expansion is proof of the growing manufacturing in the area.

“I am pleased that the Monins have a vision of not only our current industrial needs, but the projected needs in years to come,” she said.
