Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, 8:30 p.m. — Nelson County Gazette readers who opt to print the Gazette’s stories will now be able to do so in a more eco-friendly manner.

The Nelson County Gazette announced today the site has joined top websites like NBC News, CNN, Disney and Fox Sports by implementing CleanPrint technology on its website.

“CleanPrint allows readers to select the parts of the web page they wish to print,” explained Gazette editor Jim Brooks. “For example, the page header and navigation buttons take up paper and ink and aren’t necessary if you wish to print out an obituary or news story. Readers save money and in the long run, it saves paper and trees.”

In addition to putting readers in control of the printing options, CleanPrint also allows readers to create a PDF file, save a PDF to your Google Drive, Dropbox account or even save it to your Kindle.

Visitors to the site activate CleanPrint simply by clicking on the “Print,” or “PDF” buttons at the bottom right of every Gazette story. The user can select the page elements to print or not print with the click of a mouse button.  CleanPrint allows the user to change the font size, select or deselect images, and options to print to a printer (local or remote) or create a PDF file.

“Computer technology hasn’t yet given us the completely paperless home office yet, but with this technology you can do your part to conserve resources when you print stories on the Nelson County Gazette,” Brooks said.
