Rabbit hunters surprised by police investigating 911 call
Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, 12:30 p.m. — Two men out rabbit hunting Monday morning near the 29 mile marker of the Blue Grass Parkway were surprised when they emerged from a wooded area and were confronted by police with their weapons drawn. The officers were investigating a report from the driver of a tractor-trailer rig who told police a white male wearing camouflage shot at his vehicle while he was driving eastbound near the 29 mile marker. Several police units arrived in the area to investigate, which is when two men emerged from the woods carrying shotguns. The men told police they were rabbit hunting and denied any involvement in the incident with the tractor-trailer rig. They told police there were also other rabbit hunters in the same area.
In Nelson County, rabbit season runs Nov. 1-8 and Nov. 11, 2013 through Jan. 31, 2013.
