Obituary: Charles Otho ‘Bud’ Newton, 86, Loretto
Charles Otho “Bud” Newton, 86, of Loretto, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
He was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Holy Cross. He was a former employee of Willett Distillery and Heaven Hill Distilleries in Bardstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Marion and Lula Catherine Cissell Newton; five sisters, Elizabeth Nalley, Alice Cissell McIntyre, Ursula Riggs, Lula Taylor and Anna Marie Newton; and four brothers, Robert Newton, Charlie Newton, J.P. Newton and Tommy Newton.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cattie Clark Newton; two daughters, Joyce Lawson (James) of Cox’s Creek and Lisa Hutchins (Doug) of St. Francis; nine sons, Roger Newton, Timmy Newton (Arlene), Keith Newton (Lisa) and Les Newton, all of Springfield, and Ricky Newton (Donna), Calvin Newton, Terry Newton and Dale Newton (Susan), all of Loretto, and Rob Newton of Louisville; two sisters, Dorothy Newton of Bardstown and Arletha Miles of Holy Cross; one brother, Eugene Newton of Holy Cross; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov 13, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 N. St. Francis Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle is the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Mattngly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
