NARFE chapter members receive annual BC/BS insurance update
Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, 12:10 p.m. — Chapter 1050 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees met recently in Elizabethtown for their quarterly potluck and member update.
The Chapter also welcomed Blue Cross Blue Shield representative Sun Horn,
who brought the annual insurance update to the membership. Along with the
new and informative information, she provided handouts with critical
information for each member attending. For those not able to attend, Horn
advises that a call to BCBS Customer Service at 1-800-456-3967 will provide
any information needed. She also will receive E-Mail inquiries at
susan.horn@anthem.com.
During committee reports, membership secretary Sally Watkins reported that NARFE National is now providing a free six-month membership to active civil service employees. They will be E-NARFE members, and then convert to a local chapter when annual dues are paid at the end of the complimentary period. She also reported that the NARFE State Convention will be in Louisville April 8-10, 2014. The annual National Convention will be in Orlando from 24-28 August 2014. More information is available at www.narfe.org or by calling Watkins at 270-257-8134.
Those interested in the political issues including the federal pay raise for NARFE members can also go on line for information. The Elizabethtown Chapter will not meet in December. The next NARFE opportunity will be on 6 January 2014, at the NOLIN RECC Conference Room from 9-11 AM for Sam Alexander’s NARFE Service Center. Call him any time at 270-769-1264 for OPM info. The NARFE membership meeting will immediately follow at 11 AM with guest speaker Cathy Williamson from the Better Business Bureau.
Our community service project for 2014 will be assistance for Clarity Solutions for Women in Elizabethtown (for unexpected pregnancy issues). Chapter president Haun is requesting that members bring cases of diapers of any size as well as Baby Wipes to the January and any other 2014 meetings. Civil Service employees, active and retired may want to save the date of 4 August 2014 for an evening potluck and meeting, 6:30 PM. POC for more information is Mary Tom Haun, 270-862-9357.
