Obituary: Rose Cusick, 84, of Bardstown,

ROSE CUSICK

Rose Cusick, 84, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Washington County to the late J. Albert “Shoat” and Genevieve “Jenny” Cambron Blandford. She was a graduate of the former St. Catharine Academy. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as lector, eucharistic minister, and for the homebound, the bereavement committee, a substitute for adoration and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Roy Blandford, Louis Blandford, Damian Blandford, James “Hoppy” Blandford, Anthony Blandford, Harry Blandford, Joe Blandford and infant John Robert Blandford.

Survivors include five daughters, Rose Marie (Roy) Brooks of Williamsburg, Lucy (Jerry) Heath of Jacksboro, Tenn., Barbara (Gary) Melton of Wartburg, Tenn., Lori (Philipp) Niedenzu of Wilmington, Del., and Michele (Andrew) Banks of Villa Hills; five sons, Brent (Dianne) Cusick of Bardstown, Wayne Cusick of Frankfort, Howard (Melba) Cusick, Joseph (Shelly) Cusick and John (Robin) Cusick, all of Bardstown; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Dominic Church Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Batcheldor is the celebrant.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, and 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 0213, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with prayers Tuesday evening.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to St. Joseph Elementary or Bethlehem High School.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
