Obituary: Rita Krop Herrmann, 86, Bardstown

Rita Krop Herrmann, 86, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at funeral_lilyNorton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Walter and Louise Mickewicz Krop. She was a homemaker, co-founder of the Bardstown Civil War Museum and served as curator. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Nelson County Democratic Women’s Club and the Bardstown Music Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Lois Herrman (Jack Jones) of Louisville, Linda Herrman (Dennis Sabella) of New York, and Louise Herrmann of Amherst, Mass.; one son, Bob (Oksana) Herrmann of Boca Raton, Fla.; one brother, Richard (Irene) Krop of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; four grandchildren, Victor Sabella, Ross Jones, Ashley Stepanoff, and Ric Knight; and two great-grandchildren, Zach Stepanoff and Eli Stepanoff.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Chris Rhodes will be celebrant.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, and 8:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with prayers 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
