Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, 3:45 p.m. — Former gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett of Louisville filed last Wednesday to be the Republican nominee for state representative of the 32nd district.

Incumbent Rep. Julie Raque Adams (R-Louisville) plans to run for the 36th District state senate seat that will be open with the retirement of Republican state Sen. Julie Denton.

Moffett will face Shellie May, the former Jefferson County GOP chairwoman in the May Republican primary, who plans to run for the seat.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported earlier this month that Democrat Ashley Miller may seek the Democratic nomination for the 32nd District House seat.

Moffett is a school-choice proponent and co-founder of School Choice Scholarships, a Louisville charity that has awarded more than 4,000 scholarships to low-income children to give them the opportunity to attend private elementary and middle schools.
