Obituary: James Leo ‘Jimmy’ Barnes, 68, Boston
James Leo “Jimmy” Barnes, 68, of Boston, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born April 28, 1945 in New Hope. He was the son of the late Theodore and Anna Lee Barnes. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked in the trucking and construction industries. He loved and adored his children, grandchildre and family, who adored him in return.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois; and three brothers, Tommy Barnes, Leslie Ray Barners and Terry Barnes.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Lenzen Barnes of Boston; one daughter, Mindy (Jeff) Whiting; one son, LTC Shawn (Natalia) Barnes; three sisters, Joyce Spond, June Jone and Carol Carter; one brother, Bobby Barnes; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dana DeSpain officiating. Burial is in the Nelsonville Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of the deceased.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
