Obituary: Dorothy Mae Hagan Carey, 83, Bardstown
Dorothy Mae Hagan Carey, 83, of Bardstown, died Thursday Nov. 21, 2013, at her home. She was born March 25, 1930, in New Hope. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Carey; her parents, John Otho Hagan and Anna Pearl Hagan; an infant daughter, son-in-law, Edgar Waldridge; sister, Della Mae Bryan; and two brothers, John E. Hagan, and Francis “Jack” Hagan.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Waldridge, Donna May (Jim) Snellen, Joyce Marie (Doug) Wallingford, and Nora Elizabeth Carey, all of Bardstown; three sons, William Kenneth Carey, James Patrick (Linda) Carey, and Louis Daniel Carey, all of Bardstown; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (T.J.) Flener of Morgantown, Penny (Darrell) Neal of Crestwood, Tommy Waldridge, Amy (Juan) Hurtada, Karen (Jody) Spalding, Jamie Wallingford and Daniel Carey, all of Bardstown, Ken (Leslie) Carey of Loretto, Stacey (Joseph) Delaney of Cox’s Creek, Joy (Bret) Osborne of Shelbyville, and Jeanie Carey of Lexington; five sisters, Mary Lillie Newton of New Haven, Anna Marie Goff and Anna Pearl Berry, both of Bardstown, Mary Lorine Woods of Fairdale, and May Cecelia Hagan of Fultondale, Ala.; three brothers, Paul Hagan and Chester Hagan, both of Bardstown, and William Hagan of New Haven; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, and loving friends and neighbors of many years from the Cardinal Hill neighborhood.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will officiate.
Visitation is 12–6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, and 9–10:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service 5 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
