Obituary: Margaret Lee ‘Peggy’ Ballard Newton, 61, Cox’s Creek

MARGARET “PEGGY” LEE BALLARD NEWTON

Margaret Lee “Peggy” Ballard Newton, 61, of Cox’s Creek, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Lebanon. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She was a registered nurse and was most recently employed at an assistant professor at St. Catherine College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, C.E. and Nora Belle Ballard; one brother, Stanley Ballard of Loretto; and her in-laws, Sam and Thelma Newton.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ruben Newton of Cox’s Creek;
one daughter, Amy L. Newton; one son, Francis R. (Cathy) Newton Jr.; five sisters, Kathy Ballard of Leitchfield, Gail (David) Taylor of Balltown, Janet (Larry) Cecil of Dant Station, Ann (Ken) Kilkelly of Balltown, and Susan (Bill) Hamilton of Bardstown; eight brothers, Wayne (Beverly) Ballard of Rineyville, Alan (Yvonne) Ballard of Forsyth, Ga., Kurtis (Jan) Ballard of Culvertown, Richard Ballard of Louisville, Robert Ballard of Lebanon, Scott Ballard, Brian Ballard both of Loretto, and Stan Ballard of Bardstown; three grandchildren, Jonathan Newton, Courtney Craig, and Camille Goodman; three great-grandchildren, Ellie Craig, Barrett Craig, and Kayelyn Newton; the family members of the late Sam and Thelma Newton of Holy Cross; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at St. Gregory Catholic Church Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Even will officiate.

Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, and 8-9:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to The American Cancer Society.
