Obituary: Marvin Eugene ‘Gene’ Ockerman, 81, Bardstown
Marvin Eugene “Gene” Ockerman, 81, of Bardstown, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Baptist Health in Louisville. He was born April 2, 1932, in Chaplin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, having served overseas in the 2nd Radio Squadron in Darmstadt, Germany. He retired in July 1995 from Barton Distilling Co. after 37 years. He was a member of the Bardstown United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Margaret Sweazy Ockerman; and one brother, Benjamin Ockerman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anna Frances Satterly Ockerman; two daughters, Vickie Ockerman (Sandy) MacPherson and Sherry Ockerman Tewell;
two sisters, Brenda (Danny) Stewart and Betty Shofner; and three grandchildren, Gam MacPherson, Lindsey Tewell and Zach Tewell.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin. The Rev. Scott C. Stith will officiate.
Visitation is 4–8 p.m. Monday, Nov.25, 2013, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may go to the American Heart Association or the Bardstown United Methodist Church.
