Obituary: Donald R. Greenwell, 69, Bardstown
Donald R. Greenwell, 69, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at his home. He was born May 11, 1944, in Louisville. He was a retired agent for State Farm Insurance and a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Bardstown Knights of Columbus Council, American Legion Post 121, Bardstown Moose Lodge # 2408, St. Joe Prep Alumni, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary Greenwell; his parents, Richard S. and Nora M. Hagan Greenwell; one sister, Jean Marie Bickett; and two granddaughters, Lisa and Amanda Greenwell.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine Marie (Don Allen) Slaughter of Frankfort, and Cindy R. (Jim) Ballard; two sons, Richard L. (Maria) Greenwell of South Carolina, and Michael D. (Becky) Greenwell of Bardstown; and three grandchildren, Patrick Waskom, Allen Slaughter, and Megan Greenwell.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer will officiate.
Visitation is 2–8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Joseph Catholic Church or WHAS Crusade for Children.
