MARY JANE SETTLES ADAMS

Mary Jane Settles Adams, 86, of Bardstown, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born in Nelson County July 2, 1927, to the late Raymond Wilson Settles Sr. & Agnes McNabb Settles. She was a retired employee of Barton Distillery after working in the office for 44 years and a member of St. Joseph Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Harrison Adams; three sisters, Virginia Roberts, Kathryn Hardesty and Joyce Riggs; and six brothers, Roy Leon Settles, John Norman Settles, Raymond W. Settles, Jr., James Winston Settles, Gerald W. Settles and David A. Settles.

Survivors included two sisters, Geneva (Bert) Thompson of Cox’s Creek and Sharon (Joe) Wathen of Bardstown; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn Settles and Anne Settles, both of Bardstown, and Anna R. Settles of Mount Washington; one brother-in-law, Charles Roberts of Bardstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in Big Spring Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Rhodes will be celebrant.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made in her memory for masses at St. Joseph Church.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
