Obituary: Charles Ray ‘Charlie’ Meredith, 70, Holy Cross
Charles Ray “Charlie” Meredith, 70, of Holy Cross, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Jan. 28, 1943, in Louisville. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Bardstown. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ray Meredith, Sr. and Doris Victoria Duff Meredith; and one brother, Terry Meredith.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margaret Downs Meredith; three sons, Kevin Meredith (Karen) and Chuck Meredith (Leona) all of Holy Cross, and Sean Meredith of Louisville; two sisters, Charlene Mickel and Vicky Shaffiei, both of Sellersburg, Ind.; six grandchildren, Hannah Meredith, Candice Meredith, Benjamin Meredith, Nicholas eredith, Luke Meredith and Gabriel Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Curtis and Trent Curtis.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2560 N. St. Francis Rd, Loretto. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, KY 40037, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
