Obituary: Fred Maddox, Jr., 80, Bardstown

FRED MADDOX JR

Fred Maddox, Jr., 80, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Bardstown to the late Fred Douglas and Virgie Mae Ritchie Maddox. He was a former employee of the City of Bardstown and Penn County Hams. He was a member of St. John A.M. E. Zion Church where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Chirlean Firman Maddox; two sisters, Elizabeth Lee Maddox and Dorothy Maddox; and two brothers, Jerdon Lee Thomas and John Ed Maddox.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Maddox and Debra (Dwight) Mason, both of Bardstown; two sons, Michael Maddox and Freddie Maddox, both of Bardstown; and 2 sisters, Lizzie Mae Crowe and Mildred Cosby, both of Bardstown.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. Bro. Samuel L. Harris will officiate.

Visitation is 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the church.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
