Obituary: Mary B. Reid Cissell, 72, Bardstown

MARY B. CISSELL

Mary B. Cissell, 72, of Bardstown, died at noon on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at her home in Botland. She was born April 22, 1941, in St. Mary’s. She retired from Barton Distillery in 2003. She was a Class of 1959 graduate of St. Francis High School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown where she was an Eucharistic Minister.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jenifer Denton; two stepsons, Anthony Cissell and Steven Cissell; one stepgrandson, Brad Marshall; her parents, Victor and Alma Miles; and one brother, Anthony Miles.

She is survived by her husband, James A. “Curly” Cissell of Botland; one daughter, Tammy (Jim) Brooks of Cox’s Creek; two sons, Philip (Vandra) Reid of Botland, and Ricky (Patty) Reid of Bardstown; three stepsons, Ricky Cissell of Walton, Chris (Rose) Cissell of Springfield, and Keith (Candy) Cissell of Bardstown; three stepdaughters, Carol Cissell and Faye (Lonnie) Culver, both of Bardstown, and Jane (Steve) Seger of Springfield; seven sisters, Betty Caldwell, Shirley Knopp and Vickie Chesser, all of Springfield, Wilma Faulkner of St. Francis, Rosie Clan of Lebanon, Judy Murphy of Loretto, and Lois Dunn of Bardstown; three brothers, R.V. Miles of Loretto, Jodie Miles of Lebanon, and John Miles of Bardstown; 33 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a special family friend, Jerry Cissell.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, and 8-9:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown. A prayer service is 8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may go to Church Masses or Nelson County Relay For Life.
