Obituary: Paul Douglas ‘Doug’ Gartland, 50, Cox’s Creek

PAUL DOUGLAS GARTLAND

Paul Douglas ”Doug” Gartland, 50, of Cox’s Creek, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Bardstown. He was born Jan. 22, 1963. He was a 1981 graduate of Nelson County High School. He served a tour in the Army with the 6th Calvary and received an honorable discharge. He attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was employed by American Rigging and was of the Roman Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Beatrice Lewis Gartland; and his maternal grandparents, Harry C. Houck and Sarah Samuels Stoner.

He is survived by his father, Charles Paul Gartland of Taylorsville; his mother and stepfather, Jessieanne Houck Wells and Danny Wells, both of Cox’s Creek; two sisters, Lucy (Randall) Gartland Elkins of LaGrange, Julie Gartland Janes of Bardstown; one brother, Charlie “Chuck” Gartland of Selby, S.D.; two nieces, Morgan Janes and Sarah Caroline Janes; two nephews, Zach Elkins and Jacob Elkins; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral service is 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. David Clay officiating.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the funeral home.

Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
