Icy roads send two to hospital after separate crashes on Loretto Rd.
Thursday, Jan. 2, 2013, 12:22 p.m. — Two people were injured Thursday morning in separate accidents in the “S” curves on Loretto Road about 3 miles south of Heaven Hill.
The first accident was reported at 8:24 a.m. and involved a single vehicle that slid off the road. The 51-year-old driver was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital complaining of lower back pain.
The second crash happened at 8:35 a.m. while police were working the first accident. The 43-year-old female driver of a Chevrolet SUV apparent hit ice just north of the first crash, left the roadway and rolled over approximately four times. The driver was transported by EMS to Flaget complaining of lower back pain.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accidents.
