Burned-out heater motor triggers fire alarm at Hill Street home
Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, 2 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded Friday afternoon to a report of an active smoke alarm at a home in the 300 block of Hill Street. Firefighters were called to respond at 2:56 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the home locked and no one home. A keyholder arrived and let firefighters inside the home where they found a light smoke in the air. On investigation, it was determined the haze was due to an overheated fan motor in a heating unit. Firefighters removed power to the unit and removed smoke from the home. They were on scene for about 30 minutes.
