Police: One arrested in connection with Ashberry Drive stabbing

Arrested_3337DB0AMonday, Jan. 11, 2014, 11 a.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested Sunday night after a police investigation of a stabbing at a residence at 136 Ashberry Dr.

Police responded to a reported domestic incident and stabbing at 6:22 Sunday evening on Ashberry Drive. Officers found the victim, Michael Humphrey, at the scene with his shirt off covered in blood. Humphrey was trying to stem the bleeding with a towel.

Jackie E. Allen, 33, of Bardstown, was identified by the victim as the individual who stabbed him.

According to police, an altercation began between the two men while Allen was in a vehicle. Humphrey attempted to remove a child in a car seat from the vehicle, and Allen allegedly produced a pocket knife and stabbed Humphrey twice, once in the back on the right side of his spine and again under the right arm pit. Allen admitted to police he stabbed Humphrey.

Humphrey was transported by Nelson County EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital where he was transferred to University Hospital in Louisville.

Allen was arrested and charged with assault, second-degree. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
