Icy road conditions responsible for numerous accidents overnight

sheriffbadgeFriday, Jan. 17, 2014, 1:10 a.m. — Icy roads led to three non-injury accidents Thursday evening about 11 p.m. on KY 245 at the Bullitt County line. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and the Bardstown Fire Department were called at 11 p.m. Thursday on Weller Loop for a two-vehicle accident involving a rollover and possible entrapment. Firefighters arrived to find a pickup truck overturned in a ditch with no entrapment or injuries.

Two other accidents took place on the same stretch of roadway, and first-responders warned approaching police and fire units of the extremely hazardous road conditions. Firefighters stayed on scene to clean up fluids from the accident. Several accidents were reported on KY 245 and on Louisville Road due to weather conditions. Officers working accidents in the county made multiple requests for dispatchers to contact the state highway department and ask for salt trucks to treat the hazardous roadways.
