Bardstown firefighters respond to smoke inside Five Star on US31E

fireshieldTuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, 12:38 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded Monday night about midnight to an active fire alarm at the Five Star Food Mart at 1855 New Haven Road. Employees reported a burning odor in the building and white smoke coming out of the air vents. When firefighters arrived the building had been evacuated. Firefighters investigated and determined the problem was a blower motor in the heating system. Fire crews were on scene for about 25 minutes.
