Icy roads, bitter cold prompts Nelson County Schools to cancel school Thursday

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2013, 6 p.m. — Nelson County Schools have called off school for Thursday, Jan. 23, due to ice remaining on some county roads and the forecast for extremely low temperatures overnight. Child care programs will be open.

Nelson County is under a Wind Chill Advisory from now until 1 p.m. Thursday. The overnight forecast calls for a chance of snow flurries with a low temperature of 5 degrees. Wind chills are anticipated to run from 5 to 15 degrees below zero.
