Firefighters battle bitter cold while fighting Donna Way house fire

fireshieldSunday, Jan. 26, 2014, 12:10 a.m. — Bardstown Fire Department firefighters spent more than five hours Saturday evening on the scene of a house fire in the 3600 block of Donna Way. A neighbor reported the fire to Nelson County Dispatch at 5:40 p.m. Nelson County EMS arrived at the location and reported the garage was fully engulfed. As firefighters arrived, the garage roof collapsed in flames. The Northeast Nelson Fire Department was called for additional equipment to haul water to the fire scene and manpower. Fire crews reported having the fire under control after about 40 minutes. Firefighters remained at the fire scene until about about 11 p.m.
