Obituary: Emogene Royalty, 90, Bloomfield

Emogene Royalty, 90, of Bloomfield, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was the funeral_lilyformer Emogene Snider, a native of Nelson County and the former owner of the BoPeep Shop in Bardstown and Gene’s Antiques in Bloomfield. She was a member of Town and Country Homemakers, a former volunteer for Flaget Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Emma Bryant Snider and was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Royalty; and two brothers, Walter Lee Snider II, and Payton Snider Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Della (Rev. Ron) Andrew of Monticello; three sons, Marshall “Butch” (Shirley) Royalty of Deland, Fla., Fred Royalty of Bloomfield, and Joseph William “Jay” (Wendy) Royalty of Sellersburg, Ind.; one sister, Ruth Holt of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Ron Andrew and Bro. Heath Woolman officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Chaplin Baptist Church Building Fund.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
