Kenny Downs files as third Democrat seeking office of Nelson County sheriff

Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, 3:20 p.m. — Kenny Downs of Bardstown filed Tuesday afternoon as the third Democrat seeking the office of Nelson County sheriff.

Downs currently serves the Bloomfield police chief. He will face fellow Democrats Brooks Houck — who filed earlier today —  and Ed Mattingly in the May primary. The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican J.T. Fulkerson in the November general election.

The filing deadline for the May primary is 4 p.m. today. Check the Gazette for additional candidate filings after the deadline.
