Drug task force uncovers active meth lab at Cox’s Creek home

Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, 11:15 a.m. — Three people were arrested 1_drugbustTuesday at a Cox’s Creek home after police found an active meth lab while they were arresting another man on felony warrants at the home.

Detectives Michael Watts and McKenzie Mattingly working with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force acted Tuesday on a tip that a Taylorsville man with outstanding warrants was at a home at 2650 Fairfield Road in Cox’s Creek.

After officers arrived at the home they saw a woman inside the home who appeared to have an active one-step meth lab in her possession. Police also saw the wanted man, Larry Hardin, 47, in the home and believed efforts were under way to destroy or throw away potential evidence.

Officers entered the home, detained the occupants and arrested Hardin. Police found an active one-step meth lab in the home along with materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Hardin was arrested on active warrants for kidnapping; assault, second-degree; terroristic threatening; manufacturing methamphetamine; unlawful possession of meth precursors; possession of a controlled substance; tampering with physical evidence; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and two counts of fleeing or evading police, second-degree.

Police also arrested:

Timothy L. Curtsinger, 28, of Cox’s Creek on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, first-degree; trafficking controlled substance, first-degree, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Crystal Dawn Miller, 32, of Cox’s Creek on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree; tampering with physical evidence; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The hazardous materials were collected from the home for disposal.
