Chaplin man dies in single-vehicle crash Sunday near Chaplin

Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, 12:14 p.m. — A Chaplin man died in a single-vehicle rollover accident at about 1 a.m. Sunday morning in the 4000 block of Lawrenceburg Road.

John E. Buchanan, 34, suffered multiple injuries after his car, a 1995 Chevy Cavalier, ran off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox, overturned and caught fire. Buchanan was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pulled from the vehicle by bystanders. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson County coroner. The Northeast Nelson Fire Department, Nelson County EMS, and Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
