Feed American Mobile Food Pantry distributes 14,000 lbs of food locally

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, 2:50 p.m. — On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland distributed almost 14,000 lbs. of food at the Nelson County Fairgrounds. From this one Mobile Food Pantry they were able to help more than 200 local families.
With the help of their Mobile Food Pantry truck, they were able to provide a variety of food items to the people of Bardstown and surrounding areas; including bakery items, drinks, and dairy products. These items were all acquired through the Retail Pick-Up Program that Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland has with Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, and Kroger.
Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland feeds more than 125,500 hungry people each year through distribution to more than 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in 42 Kentucky counties. FAKH also sponsors the BackPack™ Program in over 270 schools throughout 34 counties. FAKH’s main office and warehouses are located on Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
