Firefighters respond to report of a smoking smoke detector

Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, 8:26 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the 100 block of Cumberland Court for a report of a smoke detector that was arcing and smoking up the residence. Firefighters determined the detector had water in it  causing it to short-circuit. The fire crew removed the detector and advised the homeowner to have it replaced. Firefighters were on scene for about 20 minutes.
