Obituary: Joseph Robert Demattos, 86, Lawrenceburg
Joseph Robert Demattos, 86, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort. He was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Gloucester, N.J. He was a retired employee of Phillip Morris Tobacco Co. and was a United States Navy and Coast Guard Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post #332 in Milltown, Ind., and American Legion Post #34 in Lawrenceburg. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Acca Temple Shrine in Richmond Va., and a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg.
He was the son of the late Carlos W. and Emma Mae Taylor Demattos. He was preceded in death by two sisters; seven brothers; one stepson, Billy Scal; and one granddaughter, Carey Taylor Beaber.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eileen Carney Demattos; one daughter, Pamela Acree of Quinton, Va., one stepson, Barry (Rachael) Seal of Chesterfield, Va.; one stepdaughter, Lisa Evans of Chesterfield, Va.; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the 1st Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg with Bro. Bob Ehr officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.
Visitation is 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Kosair Childrens Hospital or the 1st Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg Building Fund.
The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
