Bardstown firefighters respond to house fire Sunday on Hugh Ice Loop

Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, 11:34 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a structure fire at a home in the 300 block of Hugh Ice Loop. The fire was reported at 2 p.m. by a neighbor who reported heavy smoke coming from the home’s roof and attic area. An Nelson County EMS squad stood by in case anyone was injured. Firefighters reported heavy smoke from the home’s roof when they arrived. Firefighters had to access the attic area through the ceiling and roof of the home to access the fire and extinguish it. The home sustained moderate to heavy damage in the attic and roof area, as well as two rooms and a bathroom. Firefighters were on scene for 2-1/2 hours.
