City of Bardstown employee charged with stealing from City Hall cash drawers

Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, 9:40 a.m. — A longtime employee of the City of Bardstown was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing from the cash drawers at City Hall.
Patricia C. Greer, 32, of Bardstown, was charged Tuesday with felony theft by unlawful taking over $500 after an internal investigation determined she had stolen approximately $6,000. The investigation is ongoing, and a press release stated that more missing funds may be uncovered. Greer was terminated from her job Tuesday.
Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles read a prepared statement at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. “I deeply regret that this has happened, and want to assure the public that we will make every effort to see that the public’s money is paid back in full.”
Greer is a 14-year city employee who worked as a customer service representative. According to the press release, Greer admitted taking the money. She was lodged in the Nelson County Jail Tuesday morning at 11:08, and the jail logs indicate she was released on bond at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
