Obituary: Donald Clifford Sowder, 83, Bardstown,
Donald Clifford Sowder, 83, of Bardstown, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Jelico, Tenn. He was a former truck driver for Trade Winds Transit and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Coulter Sowder; his parents, John Clifford and Christine Williams Sowder; one sister, Christine Sproles; and one brother, Buddy Ed Sowder.
He is survived by three daughters, Jean (Stephen) Holley and Donna Sowder, both of Bardstown, and Ellen Spalding of Nicholasville; two sons, Chris (Kim) Sowder of Shelbyville and Joseph (Jessica) Sowder of LaGrange; two sisters, Bobbi Baird of Clinton, Tenn. and Zeta Abrams of Memphis; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral was 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Mary Jo Kruer, Hospice chaplain officiating.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County or Bloomfield American Legion Post # 288.
The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
