Obituary: Ann White, SL, aka Sister Ann Richard, 88, Nerinx

Ann White, SL, aka Sister Ann Richard, 88, of Nerinx, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary.

She was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Louisville to the late Leo James and Mary Sonefeld White, both from Michigan. She entered religious life in 1944 and received her final vows in 1950. She graduated from Webster College in Webster Groves, Mo., in 1952 where she majored in French. She received a Magisterii in Scientis Sacris from Regina Mundi in Rome, Italy. Her assignments and ministries were located in Missouri, Alabama, Colorado, Ohio and Switzerland. Locally, she taught at Loretto Junior College in Nerinx in 1960, and she served as administrator of the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Springfield in 1999.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the Loretto Motherhouse Church, Nerinx, with burial to follow in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

A wake service is 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Motherhouse.

Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
