James Thomas Yaste, 80

James Thomas Yaste, 80, born in Lebanon, on April 20, 1933, returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 20, 2014.

He was a Korean War veteran and served in the 96th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a Mason and a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. He was an artisan and a skilled craftsman who took pride in building his own steam engines. He loved bluegrass, gospel, and country music. He was a devoted family man and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Bland Yaste; his parents, Goebel Yaste, Sr. and Delora Phillips Yaste; three sisters, Sadie Lee Yaste, Juanita Yaste Raley, Quinta Yaste Keith; and one brother, Bill Yaste.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Dorayne “Dodie” Yaste Thompson (Steve) of West Point, Ga., and Judy Yaste Manning (Curt) of Lebanon; two sons, James Thomas Yaste of Lexington and Joseph Terrence “Terry” Yaste (Bobbie) of Shepherdsville; two sisters, Lacheta Yaste Jarboe of Lebanon and Pat Morton (Craig) of St. Louis; two brothers, Goebel Yaste (Faye) of Loretto and Vernon “Jack” Yaste of Lexington; 13 grandchildren, Jason Tinnell, Whitney Thompson, Craig Thompson, James Thompson, Carly Thompson, Michael Thompson, Jenny Thompson, Penny Thompson, Max Manning, Michelle Manning, Aynsley Waldroup, Leslie McDowell and Danielle Goemmer; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Richard Keith of Somerset; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at the funeral home.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
