Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2014, 12:45 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about the owner and operator of a semi tractor-trailer involved in an incident on Balltown Road involving a Bardstown fire/rescue truck on last Thursday afternoon.
The Bardstown Fire Department had responded Thursday at 2:50 p.m. to a fatal accident on Balltown Road. As fire units were returning to the station, the department’s Unit 32, a Ferrara fire/rescue truck, was forced off the roadway by the semi tractor-trailer that was crossing the center of the road as it came around a curve. The fire truck’s operator was forced off the road in order to avoid a collision. The operator of the semi continued on and left the scene. One firefighter was checked out at the hospital for back pain.
Anyone with information about the owner and operator of this truck should contact Detective Jason Allison at the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, (502) 348-1870.
