BPD turns to social media to combat rumors about internal investigation

STAFF REPORT

rumorcontrol The Bardstown Police Department took to social media Wednesday to swat down rumors prompted by news of an internal investigation of one of its police officers.

News reports Tuesday reported Bardstown Officer Tony Satterly was on administrative leave while an investigation is under way.

“Yes, there is an investigation on one of our officers that has NOTHING do to with any cases in Nelson County nor the Ellis case,” the Facebook post stated.

“No one is in custody, not the officer, not any officer, not any command staff. No, the FBI is not involved.

“This investigation is an internal investigation that will be handled as such and though many bored people in our community have formulated uneducated guesses, assumptions, and fictional stories, nothing you are hearing, and sadly continuing to spread, is true. Let the investigation run its course as in all investigations and you will see how foolish these innuendos will play out.”

The post resonated with members of the Facebook community; at this writing it had received more than 320 “likes,” 28 comments and shared more than 75 times.
