City police officer’s attorney releases statement addressing rumors

Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, 9 a.m. — The attorney representing the Bardstown Police officer who is the subject of an internal investigation released a statement on his behalf late Wednesday addressing rumors spreading primarily by social media.

The statement, released by Keith Sparks of McCoy & Sparks PLLC, states Bardstown Police Officer Tony Satterly “is aware of the investigation and has been cooperating for several weeks.

The statement noted that Satterly has been honest and has nothing to hide.

“The internet gossip is completely off base. This is primarily an investigation into a personal matter.

“Tony has been a loyal officer for the City of Bardstown for 16 years,” the statement continued. “He has the support of many on the force and even more throughout the community. He is hopeful a careful review will show that he has done nothing illegal. He asks that everyone withhold judgment and allow the process to run its course.”

The statement asks for the public and media to respect the privacy of Satterly and his family.
