Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, 12:15 p.m. — A specially built playhouse for Hunter Ellis, the special needs son of fallen Bardstown officer Jason Ellis, was unveiled Thursday evening by Kosair Charities at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.

The playhouse was built from the ground-up, and is equipped with running water, heat and air conditioning. The playhouse was built with the help of YouthBuild Louisville. In addition to Kosair Charities and YouthBuild, River City Bank and the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville helped sponsor construction of Hunter’s playhouse.

The playhouse was built with special therapeutic features to help Hunter. He met with builders early in the planning stages to select the features he wanted in the playhouse.

Hunter’s playhouse and a similar home built for a second Kosair Kid are on display this weekend at the Home, Garden & Remodeling Show at the fairgrounds.
