Bardstown man arrested, charged after admitting sex with a 16-year-old

Tuesday, March 4, 2014, 2:20 p.m. — A 20-year-old Bardstown man was arrested Tuesday on rape charges stemming from an incident reported to police on Saturday, March 1.

Ivan David Garcia, 20, of Bardstown has been charged with second-degree rape and first-degree sodomy after a police investigation of allegations he has sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl with diminished mental capacity.

Garcia admitted to police that he had sex with the victim at her residence. The victim was treated at the Center for Women and Families in Louisville after the crime was reported to the Bardstown Police Department. Garcia was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
