Obituary: Martha Celine Borders Beckers, 91, Lebanon
Martha Celine Borders Beckers, 91, of Lebanon, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Louisville. She was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Lebanon. She was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, a retired cafeteria manager of St. Augustine School and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Joseph “Joe” Beckers (1993); her parents, Roy Thomas and Leonora Elder Borders; one sister, Barbara Borders Durham; and three brothers, Roy Borders Sr., Joe Borders and Hughes Borders.
Survivors include two sons, Vallen P. Beckers of Louisville and Gilbert Lynn Beckers of Lebanon; two sisters, Cecilia Thomas and Emily Coyle, both of Lebanon; four brothers, Arnold Borders of Hopkinsville, Harry Borders of Georgetown, James Borders of Albuquerque and Terry Borders of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the Lebanon National Cemetery.
Visitations is after 4 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Thursday with Deacon Dennis May.
Bosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
