Obituary: Jane Donahue Durbin, 80, Bardstown
Jane Donahue Durbin, 80, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at her home. She was born April 24, 1933, in New Hope. She was a retired secretary for House of Nelson, which became Smith Brothers Distributing, for a total of 52 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church where she also served as an Eucharist Adorer, and a volunteer for Federal Hill Manor bingo. She was a member of the Nelson County AARP and played the organ for many years at Holy Cross Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Pike Durbin; her parents, John Francis and Marie Mattingly Donahue; one sister, Linda Sullivan; and five brothers, Nolan Donahue, Randall Donahue, Billy Donahue, Paschal Donahue and Donnie Donahue.
She is survived by two sisters, Doris (Joe) Gorman of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Carol (Mark) Tuttle of Lexington; four brothers, Leon Donahue of Louisville, Tommy (Rose) Donahue and Jim (Bette) Donahue both of Bardstown, and Larry (Pam) Donahue of Avon, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Brenda Donahue and Lisa Berry.
The Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Chris Rhodes will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with a prayer service Sunday at 6 p.m.
The family requests memorial donations go to the American Cancer Society, Mass at St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral and the church building fund.
