Obituary: Mary Helena Culver, 82, Bardstown
Mary Helena Culver, 82, of Bardstown, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the University of Louisville Medical Center. She was born Aug. 15, 1931, in New Haven. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. “Blackberry” Culver; her parents, David Clint and Catherine I. Williams Douglas; and one brother, Melvin Douglas.
She is survived by five daughters, Rose Marilyn Nally of Culvertown, Linda (Benny) Beshear of Okmulgee, Okla., Diane (Steve) Kochensparger of Bullhead City, Ariz., Lisa (Phil) Corneilson of Radcliff and Janice (Rick) Conley of Shepherdsville;
seven sons, Gene (Bonnie) Culver of Culvertown, Lonnie (Faye) Culver and Tony (Jennifer) Culver, both of Bardstown, Wayne (Noreen) Culver of Campbellsburg,
Edwin (Debbie) Culver and Timmy (Cindy) Culver, both of Cox’s Creek; and Marvin (Lisa) Culver of Loretto; four sisters, Louise Downs, Joyce Downs, Marlene (Lewis) Marshall and Charlene Leslie all of Bardstown; three brothers, Vernie Douglas of Bargersville, Ind., Elzie Douglas of Bardstown and Larry Douglas of Bonnieville; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 9 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2013, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer will officiate.
Visitation is 4–8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, and 7:30–8:15 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
