MARY “MARCELLA” DOWNS
Mary “Marcella” Downs, 95, of Balltown, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Nelson County. She was a former employee of Heaven Hill, a homemaker, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and a former member of OKH Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bernard Downs; one son, Daniel Edward Downs; her parents, Robert Sr., and Mary Beulah Rogers Ball; one sister, Rita Cissell; and one brother, Robert Ball Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Henry) Mitchell of New Haven and Naomi (Paul) Bishop of Louisville; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, with a prayer service Tuesday evening at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Rd. in Bardstown.
Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
