Obituary: William Raymond ‘Pup’ Gootee, 54

William Raymond “Pup” Gootee, 54, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his home. He was born Jan. 23, 1960, in Lebanon and was a graduate of Marion County High School. He was a member of Valley View Church in Louisville.

funeral_lilyHe was preceded in death by his parents, Rob and Peggy Devine Gootee; and one sister, Debbie Laswell.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Greenwell Gootee of Loretto; two daughters, Amanda Gootee of Springfield, Brandy Roades of Bardstown; their mother, Kim Gootee of Mount Washington; two sons, Justin (Casey) Newberry of Shepherdsville and Shawn (Chasity) Newberry of Cox’s Creek; two sisters, Brenda (Dean) Cecil of St. Francis and Patricia (Steve) Mattingly of Loretto; three brothers, Bobby Gootee, Steve (Lisa) Gootee, Jason (Rachael) Gootee all of Loretto; and eight grandchildren, Riley, Lilly, Gage, Ayla, Tucker, Chase, Gracie and Dallas.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Carwile officiating. Burial is in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, and after 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Holy Cross food bank.
